To ensure accurate tracking and association of partner contacts with Deals in HubSpot, we recommend adding a plain-text field to your Deal object called “Referring Partner Contact”. This field will store the email address of the partner contact and serve as the most reliable way to read and associate partner contacts with Deals across your HubSpot instance. Here’s how to set it up:
Step 1: Create the “Referring Partner Contact” Field
Log in to your HubSpot account.
Navigate to Settings (⚙️ icon in the main navigation bar).
Under the Objects section, select Deals.
Click on the Properties tab.
Click the Create Property button.
Fill out the property details:
Label: Referring Partner Contact
Field Type: Single-line text
Description: Use this field to store the email address of the partner contact who referred the deal.
Save the new property.
Step 2: Populate the Field with Partner Contact Email Addresses
Once the field is created, populate it with the email addresses of the referring partner contacts. You can do this manually or through workflows.
Manual Entry:
Open a Deal record.
Find the Referring Partner Contact field.
Enter the email address of the partner contact.
Automated Workflows (Preferred):
If you have a process to identify the referring partner contact automatically, use a workflow to populate this field. For example, match the partner contact email to a specific field or condition and set it as the value of Referring Partner Contact.
